Episode 14 | Eyes Above| Depth of Hades
Isis dropped a piece of Obadiah’s broken wing into the bubbling, dark green potion and stirred. The mixture hissed as it thickened. She walked over to a cage, reached inside, and removed a black raven.
“What’s the raven for?” Lucifer asked, watching her from across the chamber.
“Max will be our eyes and ears,” Isis replied, stroking the creature gently. “He’s going to show us where to find the Chosen Ones—and Obadiah. Aren’t you, boy?”
“Will it be the exact location?”
“A general one,” she admitted. “But once we’re close, we’ll find them in no time.”
Lucifer scowled. “That’s not what you promised.”
Isis met his glare without flinching. “My Lord, once you begin your attack on the Chosen Ones, Obadiah will come. Wings or not, he won’t stand by and do nothing. That will be his undoing.”
Lucifer’s voice coiled with disdain. “Right now, they laugh and play, believing their God will protect them. That ends soon. I want Obadiah to watch as they fall.”
From the folds of her robe, Isis produced a small vial of glowing red liquid. “Give this to your Reapers. Just one drop will let them remain in human form for three days.”
A slow, devilish smile crept across Lucifer’s face as he took the vial. “And then repeat the process?”
“Exactly.”
He tossed the vial into the air, caught it with ease, and grinned.. “I’ve waited years to walk freely in the natural world.”
“Then your time has come, my Lord.”
She dipped her fingers into the potion and spread the liquid across Max's wings. The raven screeched once, lifted off her hand, and shot upward, vanishing through the brimstone ceiling.
Isis waved a hand over the cauldron. The water cleared instantly, revealing a swirling aerial view of Earth.

“So your uncle's a chaperone now?” Allen groaned as he and Laric entered the bustling school hallway. “That sucks. How are we supposed to get lucky with him watching us like a hawk?”
Students darted through the halls, chatting and getting ready for first period.
Laric stopped at his locker. “This is my first school event ever,” he said, spinning the lock open. “And I have to share it with my uncle? I work for him, live with him—and now prom?”
“We’ll find a way to ditch him,” Allen said confidently.
“You don’t ditch my uncle.”
Allen raised an eyebrow. “What, does he have superpowers or something?”
If only you knew, Laric thought.
“At least your dad isn’t chaperoning.”
“No, but he’ll probably be circling the parking lot in his patrol car.” Allen grinned. “Still—it’s prom. We’re going to make memories. I’ll make sure you make up for all the dances you missed.”
He slung an arm over Laric’s shoulder. “Now, you just need a date. What about Morgan? She and Jude broke up. She’s definitely hoping you’ll ask.”
Laric chuckled. “Morgan’s beautiful. Most guys would jump at the chance.”
“Exactly.”
“Except me.”
Allen stopped. “Wait, what? Dude, word is she puts out.”
“That doesn’t matter to me.”
Allen squinted at him. “Are you sick?”
“You know why,” Laric replied.
Allen nodded, then sighed. “No sex before marriage. Right. But I keep telling you, man, that’s not how things work anymore. We’re sixteen. Hormones are a thing.”
Laric shut his locker. “Remind me why we’ve been friends since first grade?”
“Because we’re the perfect duo. You’re chill, I’m chaos. My dad says you keep me out of juvie.”
He nudged Laric. “So, who’s the girl?”
Laric’s eyes drifted across the hall to Zanna Sinclair, laughing with friends. “I have someone in mind.”
Allen lit up. “Who? When did this happen? And yes or no—is she hot?”
“It just sort of happened,” Laric said with a small smile. “And yes, she is. I’ll tell you after I ask.”
Allen groaned. “Fine. But I’m holding you to that. I told you about Bethany Pearce.”
“Since seventh grade.”
“Exactly. And I’m finally going to ask her. Real date, like a gentleman.”
“Maybe we should double-date,” Laric suggested as the bell rang.

Outside, perched atop a power line, Max the raven squawked twice—his beady eyes locked on Laric.
Inside the cauldron, Isis smiled darkly.
“We’ve found him.”
“Looks like some kind of building,” Isis said.
She looked in the Caudle again to see the images of young kids standing around in a group, but she could not see their faces. She was not sure which one is Laric, the Chosen One.
“Which one is he? I don’t understand. I can’t get a clear vision.” She explained. “This has never happened before.”
Isis peered deeper into the cauldron, murmuring an incantation.
“There’s more than one bright light down there.”
Antioch grinned. “Then perhaps we won’t just destroy them… perhaps we’ll convert them.”
He turned from the cauldron. “Send in the Reapers. Let’s see who’s ready to join the winning side.”
